Stair Sections

First stair i created with some particular concepts in mind. if the stair is viewed side on it seems with solid and heavy although when walking up the stairs the concept is very different as between each step it is hollow and the balustrade is only on one side both of these elements gives a perception of lightness. also one of the stair is thinker then other in order to support its structure, this allows a different looking view from whichever angle its viewed at.

The second stair a complete contrast of the first stair, when viewed from the front it looks much heavy and more solid as the runner of the stairs extend down although when viewed from any other angle it seems much lighter and almost floats.

The top sketch is related to the first Sketch Up model I produced.

Originally the solid part of the structure below ground in this section i perceived to be the negative space but as i had come to drawing it i thought it would be more interesting to modify the original section by swapping the hollow and solid areas.

Admired Architecture

Although this is not a recent construction it is one of my favourites, as the design of the Sears Tower was an integral part in setting the standard for the SOM way in which a building’s structure naturally informs its exterior profile and appearance. I belive this was a starting point in SOM tower designs as the firm has continued to possess their distinctive feel and maintain their dominating presence in urban skylines internationally.

Beautiful Picture

Just think today your sitting on a warm beach on the Greek Islands and tomorrow your on top of the Italian Alps, surrounded by nothing but mist and snow. The reason why this photo really stands out as one of my favourites is because of the black white imagery, and of course remembering how angry I was when my camera stopped working! and how quickly I stopped being angry when I turned to admire the view.

Creative High School Artwork

This was the only art work I kept from High School. It is my year 10 final art submission. We had to choose a culture and create a piece which symbolised a particular feature of it, I chose the New Guinea culture, focasing on a tribal warrior aspect. Its was formed using clay which was then fired in a kiln and finished with a gloss paint.
